Words of the Ministry:
As we continue with our lesson on silent labors, today we would be considering another saint who made impact silently in God’s kingdom despite being a woman. Today’s lesson would be focused on a woman called Lois. Lois was the mother of Eunice and the grandmother of Thimothy. The bible commended the faith of Lois which she passed on to her daughter Eunice and grandson Thimothy. Eunice was married to a gentile and that made Timothy a gentile (Acts 16.1-3) who later got saved by the ministry of his grandmother and mother. The silent labor of Lois brought about the ministry of a young man who later grew to become an apostle and a great help to Paul.
As we study the life of Lois, we see a number of lessons to learn, we come to realize that the labor of today on our children and coming generation is not in vain. Paul commended Thimothy that he learnt the scriptures from childhood (2 Thim 3.14-16) chiefly because of the efforts of his grandmother and mother. We again see the fulfilment of the scriptures that says train up a child the way he should go and when he grows up, he would not depart from it. We must commend the efforts of the women in Timothy’s life that despite having a gentile and unbelieving father, they labored on Timothy ensuring he ended up in the faith.
Lois wasn’t an apostle and neither did she have the opportunity to preach in the Local church but that didn’t deter her as she maximized the home as her pulpit to disciple her daughter and grandchild. Saints, not all of us would have the opportunity to pastor a congregation but we must use the platform we have to make the necessary impact as the Lord provides the opportunity. As we come across children in our schools or neighborhood, family or in our businesses, we must maximize the opportunity as we might just be raising another Timothy for the next generation. What the young ones need from us is beyond food and drink, we must take deliberate steps to ensure they find the path of life. keeping in mind that God would surely reward us of our silent labor, may the Lord grant us light.
