Life Capsule for Today                                                Date: 4th May, 2024

Theme: Things to leave behind (7)

Memory Verse for the Week: Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Topic: Jesus as our ultimate goal

Today’s Reading: Heb 12:1-2

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Words of the Ministry:

Through the week, we have seen the weights that keeps us from attaining our God ordained destiny. Today we want to comment on that goal, the reason we must look away from all distractions and look unto the ultimate price, our eternal destiny. The bible in Rom 8:29  say “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” In other words, our destiny is to be like Christ. Our goal is to attain the maturity of sons, being like the first-born son in life and nature but not in the God head.

We can from this passage see that just as we have our individual goals, God has his own goals too and that is to bring many sons to glory through the sacrificial death of Christ and organic salvation of the holy Spirit within us. That is what the devil fights by introducing those several weights we mentioned. For instance, in the course of making us like his son, God takes us through some lessons in patience and long suffering with the goal of teaching us character organically, while this is being done in the background, we may experience delay to answers in prayers or a prolonged negative situation, the devil then jumps in trying to distract us from the organic lesson, he begins to tell you the delay in prayers and prolonged suffering is due to your past sins thereby introducing condemnation and trying to corrupt the grace of God.

Dear saints, we can from this simple illustration see that the devil is always trying to use everything arranged for our good (Rom 8.28) as an avenue to preach another gospel, disrupt our faith and set weights before us in the Christian journey. We must therefore seek knowledge, look away from our negative and positive situations and look unto Jesus with patience and endurance so that we can eventually arrive at God’s ordained goal for our lives. God’s goal is to look at us and say this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased just as he said to Jesus the Christ. That comes through dealings and growth in life and our part is to corporate with him. May the Lord grant us light.
