Life Capsule For Today 15th Nov.2022
Theme: YawehSabaoth :The Lord of Host (3)
Memory Verse: Jer 51:20
You are My battle-axe and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms;
Topic: Jesus’ Example
Today’s Reading: John 5:19-23
19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
We have learnt from our previous lessons that our God as the Lord of host is a man of war. We saw instances where God fought behind the scene and man gained the victory before the enemies of God. I also emphasized that, that is what it means to have dominion, to have dominion over the enemies of God is to through the power of God put the enemy under control. The bible says we were created to be in God’s image and likeness. Hence God is a spirit, our spirit is in his image, that image is expected to have an expression the likeness of God even in our bodies.
I made an illustration sometimes ago with the glove and the hand, they look alike and the only way the glove finds an expression is for the hand to wear it, so we are with God, except we allow God have an expression in us, our image is useless, we must be in his likeness by God working in and out of us. Today as I further discuss the theme Yahweh Sabaoth, I would be looking at the example of Jesus. The bible says Jesus is the express image of the invisible God, so Jesus was not just an image but also in God’s likeness (Col 1.15).
Jesus was fully God; he became a man to show us the normal human life God ordained for man from the beginning. We see him in the scriptures doing several works of wonder, setting the captives free and enforcing the kingdom of God. For instance, He freed those possessed of demons (Mark 1:34; Luke 8:26-39).He raised the dead to life (John 11:1-44; Luke 7:11-17; Matthew 9:18-26).He healed lepers and the blind (Matthew 8:1-4; 9:27-31; 11:5). He spoke to nature commanding the wind, he also cursed a fig tree and it died to its root.
Again from the earthly ministry of Jesus we see a man working but who was working behind him was Lord Saboath, (Jhn 5.19-20). From our passage, we can therefore conclude that for Jesus to do greater works, his father had to show him greater things, what Jesus saw the father do was what he did just like Elijah, David, Moses etc, what they saw or heard the Lord of host do, that they did on earth and the gained victory. Saints we can from the account of Jesus see that God as the Lord of Host is set to do great and mighty things in the midst of men, the problem with this generation is that we are too busy to see what the father is doing, we are too conscious of every other thing that we can’t hear what the father is saying. To do greater works, we must see greater things, that is the ministry of the Holy Spirit, join us tomorrow as we look at greater works, may the lord grant us light.
