Words of the Ministry

To be meek is to be gentle, humble, kind and submissive to God’s word, it is to suffer the world’s opposition willingly. A meek person may even appear as not to enforce his right, he may not fight to own anything but to such persons the Lord says they would own everything. Just like we saw yesterday that those that mourn would be comforted so we see in this verse that the meek would inherit the earth. To be meek is to have a teachable and quit attitude, it is to follow the Lord wherever he goes, whatever the price. The Lord answering one of his disciples who was following him said “Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s 30 But he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30 KJV.

Jesus showing us what meekness meant never resisted, fight back, or try to be understood.  He remained as powerful as he had always been yet did not misuse his power as God in the flesh (Phil 2.6-7) rather he humbled Himself, giving His life so we could become like Him (Phil. 2:8; Rom. 8:29). And He prayed for the forgiveness of the very people who nailed His body to the cross (Luke 23:34).  In Jesus we see a different model for meekness—always displaying grace and humility, even when he could resist it. That was what he meant when he said he was meek and lowly in heart (Mat 11.28-30), he was willing to suffer for us, bear our shame and die for us. How wonderful would it be if we are meek like Jesus.

We see that what others are fighting, killing, and sinning to get, God gives willingly to the meek. The world around you may seem so fast, it may appear as though you have been left behind, we are being cheated or denied of our rights, they may even mock you saying your choice to follow Jesus has gotten you nothing. Saints of God, remain happy, the bible says you are the blessed one because you would inherit not just the physical earth but the new earth (Rev 21.1-7).  The reward of sinful living may seem quick and attractive, but we must avoid the sin of Esau who sold his birthright for a plate of food. The world may dangle its temporal riches before us, but we must always choose God above all. May the Lord grant us light.
