Topic: Noah the ark builder
Bible Text: Gen 6:12-13
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Gen 6:17-18
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
Words of the Ministry
This week, we would be considering the lives of some bible characters who stood out in their age, men and women who swam against the tide, they were said to be unusual and abnormal in their generation but they stood with God and have earned their place in the scriptures. Reflecting on their lives bring us much comfort in our days and assures us that indeed God rewards those that stand with him. When we read the gospels, we see Jesus saying in Luk 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. We may ask ourselves how it is possible or could a man actually pay such a price? So are the cases we would be considering this week starting with Noah.
Noah lived in a generation where evil was the order of the day, abnormality was normal and being righteous was a taboo, he was seen as an outcast. It was so bad that fallen angels took wives from among men, angelic activities were common among men and their actions made men doubt the true God. The account in Gen 6 says those angels even had descendants that were men of renown, they were prominent figures doing great things in agriculture, commerce and war, they were men people naturally admired for their successes but while they did all that, they were also spreading evil among men, it became so bad that of the population of the world, only 8 men stood with God, Noah and his family were the only ones who feared God. Consequently, Noah was commanded to build an ark as God decided to destroy the earth with water, on hearing this, Noah preached to his generation for 120 years but they never repented, rather they mocked him saying he must be insane, has he ever heard of such thing as a flood, how could a loving God destroy those he created, how could God destroy the glorious edifices made by them?
Dears saints, so is it in today’s world, we may notice most celebrities and public figure of influence are actually promoting things against the will of God, they are standing with Satan to corrupt the human race. In some cases, our family members may be part of them, we are always left with a choice to choosing God or our friends and family. Many believers fall for the deception of so called success, most scientific discoveries in the medical and engineering world is done by fallen men like the days of Noah, we then ask why God would destroys such a wonderful person if not saved, some even say of what benefit is the bible to the society, how many scientist have the bible produced, how many problems have it solved. Here we see a replica of the days of Noah, we must be careful to stand against the tide, We atimes have to choose between God and our loved ones. While we owe our family and loved ones prayer and gospel preaching, we must be ready to stand alone in this world of sin as an impending Judgment is on its way. May the Lord grant us light.
