Topic: Rejoice Always
Today’s Reading: Phil 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Words of the Ministry:
Amen saints, today we come to the conclusion of our theme “Don’t Give Up”, please share with your family and friends the nourishment for the week and do remember to spread the word to family and friends that our once-a-month physical meeting comes up tomorrow Sunday by 4pm at Suite A10, Ahser Office Complex, beside Living Faith Church, Opposite Hassan Stores, Arab Road, Kubwa Abuja. God bless you as you do.
We would be rounding off the week’s lesson by spending some minutes on the admonition of Paul the apostles, from our today’s reading, he admonished the saints to rejoice always and repeated it that they should rejoice. Reading from previous chapters you would realize that the saints had a number of challenges they faced just as many of us face today but instead of giving up, throwing in the towel, passing blame or considering compromise, Paul advice with a resounding command saying rejoice always.
When we look around us, we may have such situations that is compelling us to complain and lose faith, we may want to question the faithfulness of God and his consistency in loving us. Some may even want to blame their pastors or question If the Holy Spirit is in their meetings. In the bible when a command or instruction is repeated twice in sequence it is to emphasize on its importance for instance we see Jesus using the verily, verily statement twice in some verses like Jhn 8.34, 3.3, 13.20, 14.12, In all these passages, we notice the Lord emphasized on compulsory conditions or requirements of the kingdom, so likewise we see the apostle saying we should rejoice always in every circumstance, no matter what the devil throws at us we should rejoice, repeating it suggests its compulsory for a fruitful Christian walk.
In brief we should rejoice always because that situation enables us to bear the fruit of the spirit called joy(Gal 5.21), we should rejoice always because the devil wants us to do the opposite, we should rejoice always because we know whatever we are going through is a matter of time, our God would certainly intervene, we must rejoice always because it’s an expression of faith, we must rejoice always because the world is a temporary place and our reward awaits us in heaven, we must rejoice always because the bible commands us so, amen.
