8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ………………………………………….15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” NKJV

Words of the Ministry:

This week we intend to look at the theme the divine triangle, it is going to be an imagery of our Christian life after salvation, although we would make use of the life of Adam and other bible characters to buttress some of our points, we would notice soon enough that the Life of Adam in the garden is a very good illustration of our Christian life today. The bible is a wonderful book, the more we look into it with an open mind, the clearer the bible becomes like a mirror revealing all the extra pound of flesh in our lives. As we would see Adam in the garden so we would see ourselves in God’s vineyard and as we see Adam before the two tree, i.e the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of Good and evil, so we would see our lives being faced with two choices at every point in our life till the return of the lord. We are faced with the principle of eating from the tree of Life or from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. That is what I call the divine triangle, man on one side of the points of the triangle and the two tree at opposite sides.

At creation, God did not command man to serve him, sing to him, work for him or do any religious activity as we emphasize today. God commanded man to eat. It was as though through eating and eating right, man would do every other thing as we see today, in other words,  after eating the right fruit, man would serve well, sing right, worship accurately and fellowship according to God’s pattern. We see from our bible reading that God planted two particular trees, the tree of life and that of knowledge and he particularly instructed man not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil because it leads to death. Unlike the tree of life whose name, fruit and effect is life, the tree of knowledge on the other hand despite having a good name results to death. By the tree of life, we meant God himself in his son Jesus Christ coming to man as food. In Jhn 15: 1, 5, we see the Lord as the vine and in Jhn 1.4 and Jhn 10.10. we see the Lord as life., When we juxtapose both we have a tree of life. In psalm 36.9, the bible says God is the source or fountain of life. The tree of knowledge of good and evil on the other hand signifies Satan, he is the source of death, in Hebrews 2.14, the bible calls the devil he who has the power of death. In Jhn 10.10, Satan is again called to be a thief, killer and destroyer.

In the garden, we see 3 main entities, God represented by the tree of life, Satan represented by the tree of knowledge of good and evil and Man who at this point was neutral until he made a choice, if he chose life, he would have the eternal life of God and live forever in peace and harmony with God as God would have through that process entered into him so likewise choosing the tree of knowledge would make him an embodiment of Satan and death and devil would have also had his way. The s imagery we just explained although explicit in Genesis still exist today as we are faced with a daily option of life and death. God on the one hand and   then devil on the other. Join us this week as we dig deeper into the implication of the divine tringle and our walk with God.
