Words of the Ministry:
Godly parenting has been our focus throughout this week and we have learnt that children are a gift from God, we did share that God gave us the gift of Children so we can raise proper men and women that would advance his cause on earth. Yesterday we began to look into the how of Godly parenting and we talked on parents being an example to their children. Emphasis were made on the fact that your children would certainly become what they see rather than what you say. Today we would be progressing on the how of Godly parenting by looking at a closely related issue of time management, how we parent must learn to sacrifice in other to create time for our children.
Parents nowadays under the guise of work and economic demands prefer to spend time with friend rather than their kids and those that are at home with the children too most times would prefer to spend such free time watching television, chatting on social media or sleeping. One of the fundamentals that needs to be emphasized in this age is parenting time management, you need to realize that when you start raising children, you are preparing to deny yourself some certain rights. Parenting is beyond providing school fees or food, buying cloths, or shouting at the children, it is a call to sacrifice time, energy and emotions with the children. Parenting is a joyful experience and at the same time a prison. When we start raising children, we stop living for ourselves but for the family taking into consideration every member of the family. Such consideration would affect your choice of friends, television programs, words, attitude to your spouse, expenditure, work etc.
The memory verse states that should a man want to build a tower, he needs to count the cost, saints, parenting is like building a tower, you need to count the cost, while it is a good thing to have children surround your table, you also need to realize that the more the children, the more the demands. Parents must be there to guide their children, you must be there to streamline the programs they watch, the friends they keep, the opinions they draw from situation around them etc. Most times, when patents are not there to guide their children, such children seek guidance from maids, social media, ungodly friend, neighbors and television programme. As a parent, you should be your children best friend, you should be their confidants, you should be the first person they would consider if in need of a counsel. Many wives don’t even know when their daughter get to puberty, many men too don’t know when their sons get to puberty and begin to experience some physiological changes. Saints, to have proper children is not just by praying, we need to spend time with our children, you can’t have your cake and eat it.
