Words of the Ministry:
We have spent some time on the subject of the secret place and we made emphasis that the secret place is full of several benefits and it’s open to all believers. Naturally every believer ought to enjoy the secret place and its benefits by virtue of the new birth, but many do not know and some undervalue it. The church has relegated the ministry of the Spirit and Personal relationship with God to second place and have exalted man relationship to man with a hierarchy system and that has really affected the growth of the brethren. Through the new birth, we have an open access to God who is Spirit and who dwells in our spirit., we must turn to our spirit for a victorious relationship with him. Today we intend to look at how to dwell in the secret place to not just visit it once a while but live there, another way of saying that is how to live in the Spirit where God as Spirit lives 1 Cor 3.16, 6.16.
- Make God your dwelling place: To live in the secret place, we must make God our dwelling place, that starts at salvation, Jhn 3.3,5. When a man gets saved, the God of the secret place dwells in him, in his spirit. So it is a mutual dwelling, we are in him and him in us 1 Cor 1.30, 1 Cor 3.16. This is most times expressed by praying to God in the spirit 1 thess 5.17 and such prayer should be without ceasing. When we pray, we enter into our secret place where God dwells Matt 6.6 and he God that dwells in the secret place would reward us openly.
- Set your love on him: When we set our love on him, we would love what he loves, we would love righteousness and hate iniquity, John 14:23 “23 Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Human affection is drawn towards their object of love and expressed by the amount of time we allocate to it. The more we spend time with God in his word, in prayer, in service and meditation, we press deeper into him. While it is true that all Christians have God in their spirit, not all enjoy such fellowship with him, many relate with him on a part time basis when in need. If we love him, we would seek him early Prov 8.17
- You must know his name: To know God’s name is not to know him as Jehovah but to have an intimate revelation of who he is. Moses requested to see God and God said he would rather show him his glory as no man can see his face and live, he said he would let his goodness pass before him declaring his name Exo 33.18-23. Saints to know God’s name is to have an unusual insight about his person, it is a matter of intimacy. Dan 11.32b, those that know their God, shall be strong and do exploit. Daniel wasn’t the only Jew in Babylon but because he was among the few that did not just have Yaweh as God but knew him (intimacy), he did exploits.
Saints we can see that to dwell in the secret place is not just to bear a title, wear a collar, be a church worker, neither is it to pray or fast for daily needs. It is to have a continuous fellowship with the father, it is to live a conscious life of his presence, when we render prayers and other services to God knowing he is in us and we are in him in a living way, we can be said to be in the secret place as God is a Spirit and those that worship him must do so in Spirit and Truth, amen.
