Topic: Our bodies as God’s reflection

Rom 8:28-29
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
1Pe 3:3 -4
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Words of the Ministry:
As we proceed with our lessons on stewardship of our bodies, we come to the matter of we presenting our bodies as the reflection of God. Jesus making a statement of fact to the disciples said, if you have seen me, you have seen the father (Jhn 14.9). We all know that Jesus is distinct from the father but there was a certain audacity with which he spoke and that audacity was that he reflected the father. The bible in Acts said the saints were called Christians in Antioch because after some period of examination, those around them saw a semblance of Christ in their outward living. That then brings me to the matter of the day. Our bodies having being bought are not only of God or a vessel to contain God. It is also meant to be a reflection of God just as the moon reflects the light of the son, as Jesus was the light of the world, we are also the light of the world by reflecting who Jesus is to the world.
This may be a good place to re-emphasize that God is not satisfied with a religion rather a relationship, a relationship that would lead to we bearing the light of God which is Christ in us. Paul speaking about this said he travails that Christ be formed in the saints (Gal 4.19), like a pregnant woman, we are to birth the life of Christ in our generation. God’s goal therefore is not to raise several followers but several sons bearing his image and projecting who he is to the world, that is what it means to let your light which is actually Christ to shine so that may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. In our second reading in 1 Peter 3.3-4, we see the matter of adornment, Paul said our adornment should not be of jewelries rather that of the hidden man of the heart, in other words while Jewelries are good and beautiful, our beauty should not be limited to the external ornaments, men should see beyond gold, silver, etc, they should see the hidden man of the heart who is Christ, our adornment should be his fruits, love, joy, peace, patience etc.
Dear saints, when men see you, what do they remember, who comes to their mind, what do you project God as. Do men see a bible carrying immoral and covetous man, do men see beyond your apparel or they stop at the beautiful apparel to comment on your bad attitude. Many today are the reasons the gospel is hindered in some offices. Some Christian bosses and chief executive has painted Christ as a womanizer, a thief, rouge and a cheat. Some Christian ladies have also painted Christ a whore, a rebel and a husband snatcher. If Jesus were to ask your community who he was by the kind of life you live, what do you think their response would be? We must be watchful and careful as we are a reflection of who Christ is, a living epistle that men read, may the Lord grant us light.
