Words of the Ministry:
As we proceed with our lesson on the theme biblical giving, we would be looking at giving without favoritism. As new covenant believers, we are expected to be imitators of Christ who show no favoritism either to the rich or poor, young or old, male or female. Especially as it relates to giving, we are to treat everyone equally regardless of their faith. We must avoid the temptation of treating one race over the other, one tribe or even a member of a certain denomination over another. Doing so is an expression of carnality and giving out on any other condition outside the strict guidance of the holy spirit is a sin in itself.
I see a certain misconception among the saints today, they say they prefer to give to a certain preacher instead of another brother in the Church, they claim the life of the preacher is more fertile or that God would reward them much more for doing so, some even preach that to break out of poverty, you need to give to a rich preacher who doesn’t even need the money, they say such preachers have the power to break financial limitation that as they receive your money, they exchange it with the anointing for prosperity, dear saints that is a false gospel from hell as they bible never taught this, it was a product of the vain imagination of certain greedy preachers who want to make merchandise of the gospel.
We see Paul in need and the saints blessed him financially but there was no mention of anyone of them becoming the richest man in the world. The woman with the alabaster box who broke and emptied it on Christ did not become a millionaire afterwards so was the financial condition of the widow that gave the widows mite, it remained same even after giving as we were not told she became very rich. We must be careful of the pseudo gospel flying around, it is the imagination of vain minds, they preach materialism instead of Godly prosperity and contentment.
Now I must also comment on the Holy Spirit guidance as I see many using it as an excuse not to give, many saints would say I was not led to give a certain person in need in the church but this same saints would not hesitate to give their blood relative when they ask neither would they wait on the Holy Spirit to know if they should give, we see certain level of hypocrisy here, when we deal with our relatives we don’t wait on the holy Spirit but when we deal with others we wait on the Holy Spirit. Our natural disposition should be when the Holy Spirit doesn’t resist us, we should give. In other words, the holy Spirit should either resist us when we want to give outside his will or should impress on us when we have chosen not to give, outside these two promptings when we feel the Holy Spirit is silent, we should be willing to give without favoritism, amen.
