Words of the Ministry

Today, we would be considering the second questions as it relates to avenging ourselves when it comes to spiritual enemies, i.e devils and demons. The lesson of peacemaking does not apply here, we are not in any portion of scriptures taught to be at peace with the devil rather we have been given a commission to destroy his kingdom.  Believers must know the difference while we are encouraged to live peaceable with our human enemies, we are to be fully aggressive against our spiritual enemies. The church has been given the commission to ensure the gates of the kingdom of darkness does not hold (Mat 16.18). As believers, we must therefore ensure we are on the offensive and not on the defensive, we must ensure the gates, i.e the defense of hell does not prevail, hell here representing the devil and his works.

That naturally brings up the thought that the human enemies are most times empowered by the demons, a typical example are witches, occults, false prophets etc. As believers, we must be able to separate the humans from their demons, we must see the human agents as captives of the devil needing help while the demon must be dealt with aggressively in prayer. In practical terms, that means while we show love to the human enemies, we pray against the powers behind them and for the salvation of the human agents. We must be familiar with the tricks of the devil, the human agents are captives, they are like a mask used to cover the real identity of the devils. A typical example is 1 Cor 2.8 where it is recorded that the princes didn’t know else, they wouldn’t have killed the king of glory. In the physical, we saw the Romans and the Jews but behind them is the devil.

Our today’s reading emphasizes that we have been give power against the powers of the enemy and the weapons we are to apply are nor carnal, they are spiritual and powerful enough to pull down satanic assaults be it a thought in the mind or an attack. We have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to bind and loose and pull down all the powers of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. We must therefore be offensive as we cannot give peace to the wicked, we can’t show love to demons we must extend God’s peace on earth by destroying the demonic agenda within our sphere, may the Lord grant us light.
