Words of the Ministry:
Our burden this week has been the reasons for Jesus’ resurrection, we have considered how his resurrection made us justified before God. We also learnt that Jesus’ resurrection led to our regeneration, God now dwelling in our Spirits, as a result we are now sons of God, as sons of God we are bearing his fruit, Jesus’ resurrection broke the wall of partition and making us partakers of the spiritual common wealth of Israel, we can now walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, doing signs and wonders in his name. Today we intend to look at another benefit of resurrection which is glorification of our mortal bodies.
The intention of God was beyond our justification, God always wanted man to be in his image and likeness but due to the fall, man fell short of his glory (Rom 3.23 ) and was reduced to mortal flesh (Gen 6.3). God in his redemptive plan started out with our justification, then our regeneration in our spirit and through the spirit he has been dispensing his rich life to our soul and finally in our bodies, our bodies which was but flesh would be conformed to his likeness, we would be like him in eternity future, that is our hope, Paul said” …… Christ in you the hope of glory” Col 1.27b.
Saints, God had put his spirit in us to make us in his likeness, 2 Cor 4:7 “7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” The treasure being talked about is the Holy Spirit, the indwelling Christ in us, transforming us daily into his likeness. In the gospels Jesus took 3 of his disciples to the mountain and was transfigured before them (Mat 17.1-3), another word for transfigured is glorified, the account said he shone like the noon day sun, not because of an external light on him but an unveiling of the glorious Christ covered by the earth vessel of his body. Jesus decided to reveal the real him to them, the consequence of his resurrection and indwelling in us is to make us as he is.
Rom 8:11 says 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Saints that is our hope, thanks to God for the resurrection of Jesus, we can have our bodies redeemed from the fall of Adam, The bible further says as we spend our time gazing on the Lord through his word, we are being transformed from one level of glory to a greater level of glory, this continues even till our physical body matches him, we have the same like ness, we become glorified as he is, to this we can only say Thank you Lord for your eternal plan of salvation
