Theme: Joint Heirs with Christ (4)

Memory Verse: Rom 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Topic: The seed and the promise

Today’s Reading:  Gal 3:16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Gal 3:13-14

13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 3:28 -29

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29  And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Words of the Ministry:

In the week, we have seen the partial fulfilment of the promise God made to Abraham, we saw how God gave him a seed, tested Abraham and how God provided a lamb for himself, we spent some time on that matter saying he that needed to sacrifice was the one meant to provide a lamb. We also saw how God began to bless the seed directly after the sacrifice at Moriah. We said after the event, Isaac was able to access the promise.

Today we would be looking at the reality of the promise and the seed. We can see from our today’s reading that the promised seed which God had in mind is Jesus and not Isaac, Paul did emphasize that not seeds but seed.  He further clarified that saying, through Christ as the seed we the saints have the promise. In other words, because we are joint heirs with Christ, Christ has abolished the law of sin and death placed on every man by default and we have been brought into the inheritance of God. In reality, for anyone to partake of the promise, he must be a joined to Christ, he must abide, he must be born again.

In Gal. 3.13-14, we are now being told what the inheritance is, what the blessing that God had in mind was. The bible says the promised blessing is the Holy Spirit, that would again suggest Gen 15.1, God saying he was Abraham’s reward, this he fulfilled through Christ by giving himself as the reward to the saints. Hallelujah, the promise of the seed had been given and we have received it as joint heirs with Christ. The bible speaking concerning the Spirit which Jesus received said the Spirit was without measure (Jhn 3.24, Col 2.9), by implication, it means we the Church have all of God hence we are joint heirs. Join us tomorrow as we look at the dual-purpose death of Jesus as the lamb of God. May the Lord grant us light.
