Words of the Ministry:
This week we would be looking at conflicts and how to manage them as Christians, we would be looking at conflict management in the society where we live among believers and unbelievers alike, we would also consider conflict management in the church, in our homes (married partners), our offices, businesses and among our children. It is a fact that there must be reasons for disagreement as we are all different individuals from different backgrounds having different experiences and drawing different opinions based on our experiences, it is therefore important we know how to manage conflicts especially as the bible has encouraged us to be at peace with all men as much as we can.
Conflict is defined as a clash between individuals arising out of a difference in thought process, attitudes, understanding, interests, requirements and even sometimes perceptions. A conflict results in heated arguments, physical abuses and definitely loss of peace and harmony. A conflict can actually change relationships. Friends can become foes as a result of conflict. It is a well-known fact that neighbours are our biggest assets as they always stand by us whenever we need them, a small conflict not controlled at the right time may change the narrative and lead to a large rift among neighbours in a community leading to major unrest and disharmony. Families could be broken apart, the Church could experience a major setback, physical assault and hatred, it could lead to job loss, poverty, marital unfaithfulness, divorce and even murder.
The Bible refers to believers as peace makers, it is therefore necessary that we look into God’s provision for managing conflicts. This in-turn would not only help the Church but also our individual home and the society at large. Join us in the course of the week as we consider this matter from various angles and we trust the Lord that after this week’s encounter, we would experience a more peaceful home and churches.
