Life Capsule for Today                                 Date 9th October 2024

Theme:  Being Born Again (4)

Memory Verse: Joh 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Topic: Are you a slave to sin?

Today’s Reading:

1Jn 3:8-9

8.  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

.9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Rom 6:12-14

12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Words of the Ministry:

Today as we continue our theme being born again, we like to look more closely at the portrait of the unsaved and specifically as it relates to the matter of sin. For the natural man in Adam, he doesn’t need to commit sin to be  a sinner because he is naturally a sinner as he is born from Adam (Rom 5.12), his source is sin so whatever he does is sin regardless of it being good or bad. Not only that, a natural man in Adam also has no power to overcome sin. He may make several attempts to stop certain habits, after a while he would realize that he can’t overcome in himself as victory comes only through Jesus Christ 1 Jhn 3.8.

Today I see many unsaved going to therapist hoping to break free from addiction, they place them on several program but after a while they discover that such programs only give temporary relief. One of the greatest contrasts between the believer and the unsaved man in the fallen Adam is the power of sin. Although the believer may commit sin, the unbeliever is under the dominion of sin and in fact can’t say no to sin because his source is the devil the father of sinners Jhn 8.44. From today’s reading, we see that for the saints in Christ, the Apostle said we should not let sin reign over us and that is because we have victory in Christ, we have power to resist sin an if we sin, its by choice.

Dear reader, the death of Christ brought grace (Jhn 1.17, 1Jhn 3.8), grace is God’s supernatural power over sin that make a former sinner live a victorious life. Over the years I have heard testimonies of drug addicts, homosexuals, armed robbers, corrupt politicians etc live a victorious life by the grace of God. This they enjoyed because the accepted the sacrificial work of Christ on the cross Rom 5.8. The salvation experience gives beyond material riches, it gives you the overcoming life that makes you live victorious. When a man is saved, he is saved from sin, sin shall no more have dominion over such a person as he is under grace, halleluyah, I am under grace an no more under SIN(Satanic IN Nature) Jhn 8.34.
