Joh 4:32-34
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Words of the Ministry:
The next thing to consider in our theme, “faith building principles” is doing. Following the hearing of the word, meditation and prayers, we must take steps of faith by doing, we must take action as God is not just looking for those that would hear his word but doers. A vast majority of Christians exercise what I call irresponsible faith, they don’t like to play any role to birth their expectation. They want God to answer their prayers while they sit idle. Jesus said his food was to do the will of the father (Jhn 4.34), doing is the first outward activity that depicts faith. No man can have faith and remain idle, to have faith therefore is to play our role to obtain the will of God on earth. In Hebrews 11, the bible said the elders obtained a good report through faith, as we read through their accounts, we notice they were all doing things to corporate with God. For instance, God himself spoke, Abel offered an acceptable sacrifice, Enoch preached righteousness and walked righteously, Noah built an ark, Abraham left his father’s house, Sarah believed God and kept trying despite her age etc.
Our generation has been deceived to believe seed sowing and claiming a testimony is all that matters, they overlook the place of self improvement, taking bold and risky steps, building relationships and trying after several attempts. Imagine a scenario where an unemployed graduate believes God’s promise for a good job, despite praying about it, he sit in his house reading the bible daily without submitting an application, informing family and friends of his desire to get a job rather he speaks in tongues hoping an angel would apply. Such a fellow would end up being miserable, he may even curse God or result to compromise as he has forsaken the principle of no work no food (2 Thes 3.10), Every promise in the bible has an objective side that has to do with God doing a thing and a subjective side that has to do with you taking certain steps. Check with your experience, how many things has God shown you about your life and how many has come to pass? Could it be because you have been pushing your responsibilities to God? Shalom.
