Words of the Ministry:

This week our life capsule is centered on obedience.  Obedience happens to be one of the day to day life lessons we learn from childhood, we see parents instructing their children to pick up items, take items away, run errands, etc. it is part our life and we don’t necessarily have to be taught to obey as even our society teaches that naturally, while at home, in school, among friends or in social gatherings we give and take instructions. As we raise children, the more elderly ones give instructions to the younger ones and they are expected to obey, culturally we tag that respect and honor, so likewise we are expected to obey God as Christians, the bible is God’s word, it is for rebuke, for comfort, for exaltation and for instruction in righteousness 2 Tim 3.16-17.

This week we would be looking at the expected obedience from a believer, what God expects from us, why is it important we obey God and the blessings attached to obedience.  I like as a way of introduction to state that the fall of man and the need for a new creation was as a result of disobeying God, as our first parents chose to obey the serpent, Rom 5:19 “19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” God takes obedience very seriously as it is the center of our walk with God. Our natural disposition without the help of the Holy Spirit is to disobey God or give excuses, every natural man likes himself and would rather chose what pleases him to God. The call to the new life is to learn obedience, in doing so, we are choosing Christ above all al we are showing him our best love.

In the week, we would be more elaborate on what the bible calls obedience as we would see that it is not necessarily what our culture calls obedience, we would see the relationship between obedience and submission. We would learn that Obedience is the foundation of all graces and no man can truly say he is saved without obedience. The extent of our obedience therefore is the extent of our growth in Christ and love for God. The memory verse says if you love me, you would keep my commandment, not know them or teach them but do them. Obedience is the mother of faith, miracles and the evidence is Love.
