Topic: Reasons for stagnation (1)

Words of the Ministry:
Today we intend to look at one of the reasons believers remain stagnant, suffering the same fate like unbelievers. We have already learnt that stagnation affects people both physically and spiritually and that a Christian can suffers stagnation too if not careful. We said it is not God’s will to be stagnant as he has made provision for the believer’s liberation provided he or she maximizes it. When it comes to matters of stagnation, our ignorance is no excuse as the devil may torment an individual till old age until he realizes he is bound and if the person remains ignorant, he may die in such situation.
The first reason I like to talk about is God, yes God is one of the reasons a man can remain stagnated. As believers, God has a glorious plan for us but when you are constantly moving against his will out of self-desires, God could frustrate your efforts. As we read through the bible, we see several examples of persons who suffered stagnation due to their choices. We see Adam who was stagnated due to his disobedience and the lust of the eyes, we see the children of Israel who were stagnated because of unbelief and rebellion towards God, we see Jacob who suffered severally because he kept fighting God’s will until God finally conquered him at Peniel and we also see Peter that went back to fishing without any result because he was fighting his God ordained destiny.
We can from the list see that God himself stagnated people because of pride, sin, unforgiveness, rebellion, unbelief, worldliness etc. Many saints today suffer same fate, taking pride as an example, the bible teaches in Jam 4.6b “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble”, many believers despite being saved remain proud, they have a wrong estimate of themselves and that is why God stagnate them. In their own situation, what they need is to repent and change their attitude, humble themselves and they would be lifted up. Same goes with unforgiveness, bitterness and worldliness. Check your life today and you may discover the situation you find yourself is as a result of you opposing God, a self-willed Christian would suffer much as he would continually be against the will of God. May God grant us light.
