Theme: The Ten Virgins (6)
Memory Verse: Rom 6:6
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. NKJV
Topic: I Never Knew You
Today’s Reading: Matt 25:8-13
8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
As we further study the parable of the 10 virgins, we have seen that the 5 foolish virgins had to go buy their extra oil as we said it is a product of our personal work, love and sacrifice for the Lord, it can’t be shared or done on behalf of others. We learnt that Christian living has a huge sacrifice of suffering but also a much more reward of enjoyment when the Lord returns. A vast majority of believers today finds the matter of suffering strange because our society believes in compromise. We must stand with the Lord and be willing to suffer hating our lives and loving the Lord to the uttermost while being a faithful steward.
From today’s reading, we notice the 5 foolish virgins came knocking to gain entrance to the wedding feast which should have being their wedding feast but unfortunately, the bridegroom said he never knew that. I like to quickly comment that that was not the door of salvation and neither did the Lord say they were to go to hell rather the shutting of the door and denial of entry to the wedding feast signified a loss of a dispensational reward, to not know them meant he did not approve their living or lifestyle just as in Luk 13.25. It is therefore expedient we work on our living making deliberate effort to cooperate with the Lord.
Saints, this may not be a popular interpretation especially in this age where people say regardless of what you do, sin is dead. Sexual immorality and perversion is the order of the day, little emphasis is placed on holy living, bulk of the meeting is dedicated to entertainment and normal Church life is being replaced with every other thing but God’s word. We must be careful with our living as the way to life is narrow and only a few find it. May the Lord grant us light. Please keep in mind our monthly Peniel Meeting coming up next week Sunday, also note the change of venue as highlighted below.
Bible in one year: Proverbs 4-7
