Topic: The Foolish Virgins Missed the Wedding Feast
Today’s Reading: Matt 25:9-12
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday we emphasized that the foolish virgins were foolish because they didn’t have the extra oil in their vessels, though they were virgins like the wise ones, they were careless not being mindful of their organic salvation in life. When the announcement was made that the bridegroom was approaching, that was when they knew they have been foolish all along. We said that majority of such are believers who love compromise, they don’t like to suffer or miss any natural opportunity, they hate discomfort hence they don’t like persecution. We also learnt that a price must be paid in this life and the price includes giving up the world, denying the self and the flesh, loving the Lord above all, counting all things loss on the account of Christ. Choosing to suffer persecution for the Lord and his work and carrying the cross daily.
Reading further we noticed that while the foolish virgins went to get extra oil, the ready wise virgins went in with the bridegroom to the wedding and the door was shut, this is an imagery of the Lord’s coming in the air (1 Thes 4.16) as part of his second coming, and the ready virgins are those who were indeed preparing for his coming not knowing when the Lord would come (Mat 24.44). To enter the weeding is to be raptured to the air (1 Thes 4.17) and the wedding is the marriage dinner of the lamb (Rev 19.19) which would he spread in the air(1 Thes 4.17). It would manifest before the manifestation of the kingdom and would be a reward of mutual enjoyment with the Lord, a reward to be given to believers who are ready, who has experienced the infilling of the lord in their spirit. Before they die. The shutting of the door does not imply being shut out of salvation as the 5 foolish virgins were called virgins till the end but a shutting away from a part of God’s reward which is the wedding feast of the lamb.
The implication of this portion of scripture is that saints should live ready even now, we should make deliberate effort to deny the flesh, to carry the cross even when we don’t feel like as our actions and corporation with the Holy Spirit has grave consequences. Many saints today live carelessly as it looks as though what they do wrongly makes no difference, they look happy and fortunate despite being carnal, like the foolish virgins, the consequence of their carnality would only come to light at the Lords return, when it is already late to make any changes. We must be careful to live a life worthy of partaking of the wedding feast of the Lamb as it is a reward for the ready saints. May the Lord grant us light.
