Words of the Ministry:
Halleluiah saints and welcome to a new week, this week we intend to look at the benefit of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ as our atoning sacrifice. There have been several hymns and songs composed to the Lamb of God that paid the ultimate price for man, but many still do not know the implication of his death. As we study the bible we see that God is Love and at the same time he is holy, his holiness demands a righteous justice system, these happens to be the seeming opposite sides of God that many struggle with today. The account of Genesis highlights how much God loves the created man, until the fall of man, God visited man in the cool of the day. A wider view of the bible makes us to understand that God wasn’t satisfied with visiting man but rather wanted to dwell in man.
The sorrowful event of the fall of man changed everything as the man God loved had to see the righteousness of God, he had to experience God’s justice system because our God is holy, man sinned by obeying Satan and lost his place in the garden, since then man could not approach God. The fall of the first Man Adam affected the entire human race Rom 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”. God in his love made a promise of the seed of the woman to free man from God’s wrath (Gen 3.15), that was the first gospel message, the message of redemption as we would later see Jesus in the gospels refer to it John 10:1010 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”
God being love wanted a continued fellowship with man but because of his holiness he also demanded justice hence the need for an atoning sacrifice Heb 9.22. The atoning sacrifice was an expression of God’s love for mankind Rom 5.8-10. The atonement therefore refers to the needed reconciliation between sinful mankind and the holy God, without the atonement man would have to face the wrath of God Rom 1.18. The word atonement has synonyms like propitiation and reconciliation or reconciled. In the week, we would be looking at the atonement both in the old and New Testament, the benefit and how to maximize it. We trust the Lord that he would fill us with his life as he reveals his works to us, amen.
