Today’s Reading: 1Ch 4:9 – 10
9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Words of the Ministry
This week we would be looking at a short passage that introduces the life of a man called Jabez. The story of Jabez has been used by many to teach on prayer and the ability of God to change situations. We would take a closer look at the account of Jabez and draw some light relating it to some kingdom realities in our days and how we can enjoy the fulness of God. One of the most striking things about Jabez is that he was said to be more honorable than his brothers despite been under a curse as a son of pain from his mother due to the pain she went through during his birth.
We see Jabez, a man under a curse of sorrow from his mother’s womb was doing noteworthy things than his brothers who weren’t under any curse from their parents. This blessing he enjoyed as recorded in 1 Chro 4.9 was before he sought God in prayers. We can see from Jabez a man that really understands the power of Prayers, the ability of God, the essence of the blessing and the limitations a of a wrong name.
Dear saints, join us within the week as we learn to be like Jabez, like an Oliver Twist, we would be asking for more, giving the God that answers prater no rest until he enlarges our coast that we be a blessing to those around us both spiritually and physically. We must never be satisfied with our past and immediate success for the kingdom, we must seek to break limits, we must engage the able God who is honored by the prosperity of his Children.
