Life Capsule for Today                                             22nd Oct 2025

Theme: Consistency in Prayer (4)

Topic: Not knowing what to pray

Memory Verse for the week: 1Th 5:17:  Pray without ceasing.

Today’s Reading: Mat 6:9 -10

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Rom 8:26

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Words of the Ministry

Saints today we would be answering another pertinent question that hinders many from spending time with God in the secret place, the matter of knowing what to pray. Yes, we may say we should pray for everyone, in all situations at all times but we always come to a point in our prayer walk either experientially or as a result of delay in expected answers, we ask ourselves, could the delay be as a result of praying for things outside God’s will or how do I even know if this request is God’s will. We learnt in the past that effective praying is to pray the will of God to him as prayer doesn’t necessarily originate from man but God. To degree of our effectiveness in prayer therefore depends on the extent to which we pray the will of God.

As we look into today’s reading, we see a pattern on prayer taught by the Lord and he said, when we pray we should pray that the will of God be done on earth as it is done in heaven, in other words, that what we want to see permitted on earth is what heaven has already permitted (Mat 16.19 NET). How then do we know the will of God to ensure our prayer is effective and not a mere exercise wasting our time? That is where the Holy Spirit Comes in. The bible says the Holy Spirit is the third person in the God head and he comes into us at salvation. Without the Holy Spirit, man remains spiritually dead. The ministry of the Holy Spirit includes that of teaching us all things (Jhn 14.26). We must therefore learn to engage the Holy Spirit who is within our spirit, we must learn to ask him to give us a prayer burden even as we intend to pray and we would realize that not only would our prayer time increase but our prayers would be more effective as it would yield greater results.

Dear saints, the Holy Spirit doesn’t only dwell in us, he is also God knowing the mind of God and revealing the mind of God to us. We must therefore learn to acknowledge the Holy Spirit as our prayer partner and our prayer navigator as he empowers us to pray supernaturally. The second reading states that the Holy Spirit helps our prayer infirmity as we don’t even know what to pray but he knowing the mind of God grants us the needed information and burden in prayer to ensure our victory. May the Lord grant us light,
