Today’s Reading: Heb 2:9 -11
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Heb 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Words of the Ministry:
This week, we would be considering an in-depth topic that touches on God’s economy, that is the matter of we as Joint heirs with Christ. The bible in Genesis teaches that God made man in his image and likeness and that God visited man in the cool of the day. He, wanting man to be his container, he gave the offer of the tree of life, unfortunately man chose the tree of knowledge. If man had eaten the tree of life, God’s goal would have been met, men would have been his sons, having the same life and immortality which exclusively belongs to God (1 Thim 6.16).
The several falls of man eventually led to the call of Abraham. Abraham was a gentile who had an encounter with the God of glory, several years into his walk with God been childless, he became worried., at that point God appeared to him making an offer that would later lead to the global salvation of men as we see today. In Gen 15.1, “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward”, Abraham not comprehending this like many of us still asked, what would God give him seeing he is childless. God then in verse 3-6 of same chapter then had to address the matter of Abraham’s Childlessness by promising that his sons would be like the innumerable stars of the sky.
The matter that began with Abraham would constitute this week’s study as we would be looking at the progression of the promise, the seed and how it was eventually fulfilled. In today’s reading, the bible says the painful and sorrowful death of Christ was to bring many sons to glory, it was to ensure we are his sons and not just sons but his heir and joint heirs with Christ.
