Today’s Reading:Jos 2:1-7

1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

Jos 2:2  And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

Jos 2:3  And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

Jos 2:4  And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

Jos 2:5  And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

Jos 2:6  But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

Jos 2:7  And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

Words of the Ministry:

This week we would be looking at the life of a bible character called Rahab trusting God to draw some light. The bible also commented on her life in the book of Hebrew 11 as one of the heroes of faith. Rahab was a pagan, a woman outside the covenant of the land of Israel, she was an immoral woman who naturally would have been stoned to death in the land of Israel for her sinful living. The bible said this immoral woman later became a part of the household of Israel enjoying the covenant of Abraham, not only that, she became part of the linage of Jesus the Christ. We see in Rahab, the story of Divine transformation, how God transformed the life of an unbeliever to a mother in Israel.

The bible is particularly clear that God has an intention in eternity past to conform us to the image of his son, this he has been achieving through gospel preaching and the holy Spirit residing in our spirit. In the course of this week we would be drawing some parallels between the story of Rahab and our story. We would be seeing how God intends to transform us from being a prostitute in the world of sin to becoming a saint in his kingdom. How we would be changed from spreading our old immoral life to spreading the gospel of grace and how God eventually expects us to birth the Messiah who is Christ in us. We would see how God intends to be glorified through our living.
