Today’s Reading:.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Heb 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Words of the Ministry:
Today we come to the third phase of the goal of deception which is destruction. We have seen the dangers of deception as it starts by stealing the seed of bible truths, killing the conscience of the believer through which the Holy Spirit rebukes and convicts us and lastly, we would be considering how the devil destroys the believer. The devil’s intention from the beginning is to ensure that he takes as many people along with himself to hell, that is why he ensures many disbelieve the gospel and he tries all he can to make those that believe sin with the eventual goal of denying Christ which they once believed.
When a Christian begins to live in sin to the point that the conscience no more rebukes him, he doesn’t listen to counsel and he is sell willed or maybe he now denounces his salvation because of his love for the world, definitely such a person is on his way to destruction with the devil in the lake of fire except he repents. An individual could be self-deluded thinking he is doing well because of the works of power and miracles. He could even be famous, with good reputation and highly respected like Jezebel who calls herself a prophetess but just like in Matt 7.21-23, the Lord would say to such people, I never knew you, they are not known by the Lord, such people, regardless of their reputation and sacrifices in Church have been wasting their time.
It therefore goes to show that we must continue to the end to be worthy of our ultimate salvation, The bible gives account of men who started well but eventually left the faith for worldly gain. The bible also warns in several scripture of the dangers of backsliding which is one of the consequences of false doctrine where sin is treated casually and spirituality is replaced with activities. Verses like 2 Pet 2.20-22, Eze 18.24-26, 1 Jhn 3.6-9, Heb 10.26-28 etc shows a man can indeed lose his salvation. We must therefore live soberly seeing that the devil, our adversary is seeking who he may devour. May the Lord grant us light.
