Topic: Faith as a compulsory requirement for pleasing God
Bible Reading: Rom 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Words of the Ministry:
This week, I would be considering the matter of faith. Faith is an absolute trust in God; it is the bedrock of Christianity and a compulsory requirement for pleasing God. In other words, faith is the requirement not only for our initial salvation but a lifelong requirement for our ultimate salvation. We get saved by faith in the redemptive work of Christ and we stays saved by faith in the organic lifelong working of Christ in our Spirit. As we study the bible, we come to realize that all men that walked with God had to exercise faith in God as without it, it is impossible to please God.
When we read Jhn 3.16-18, we see that the offer of God requires some element of faith which is believe on the son of God, Jesus Christ. All through the Old Testament and as we read Hebrews 11, we see God honoring the faith of men and called it righteousness. We can therefore say the believers walk is a Christian faith. The bible also warns about men like Hymenaeus and Alexander whom left the faith by teaching false doctrines (1 Thim 1.19-20), Paul said he had to commited them to Satan to deal with them hoping they repent. The matter of such false teaching again came up in 2 thim 2.16-18 where Paul warned against the same individuals and did highlight that their false teaching has overthrown the faith of some saints.
Knowing that faith is a compulsory asset and that God wants us to grow in faith by not just trusting him as our provider but laying down our lives for him as our lord, it is therefore important as wise builders, we build our faith to ensure we don’t build our house on a sandy foundation.
