Words of the Ministry:
As we progress with the theme, things to leave behind, today I would like to consider another weight that has kept many down, that is the weight of past failures and negative experiences. A vast majority of believers have lost their drive by spending so much time on their past failure. They don’t envisage the possibility of anything good coming their way in a venture they had previously tried and failed. They are quick to jump to the conclusion that they once tried and even their neighbors too once tried and failed so they have no assurance of success. Some would even wrongly jump to the conclusion that their negative experiences must be God’s will.
Contrary to the opinion and experiences of many, a life of faith is not dependent on our past experiences rather on God’s word. While many claim to have faith, they live their lives based on facts. Their decision at every point in time is absolutely dependent on what is most viable. As we read through scriptures, we see several examples of men that lived by faith and not by sight as without faith we can’t please God. The account of Ruth who left her past behind and married again (Rut 1.16-17. 4.13), Peter who despite failing to catch fishes all through the night obeyed Jesus and had a net breaking testimony at the most unusual hour (Luk 5.3-6), Jesus who had to pray more than once for a blind man (Mar 8.23-25) and the Apostles who failed to cast out devils in the gospels (Mat 17.19-22) but had a miracle ministry after Jesus’ ascension (Acts 4.33).
Dear saints, have you been held back by your previous experiences of failure, have you had a bitter experience in your marriage, business, spiritual pursuit, relationships, pregnancy, job application, evangelism, health etc. Does the devil always replay the scary experiences to you, has that in any way prevented you from trying again? I bring you good news, God is not a man that he should lie, he has promised, he would do a new thing, he would make a way where there seems to be no way. Encourage yourself with this scripture “Pro 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. “ May the Lord grant us light.
