Today\u2019s Reading: Col 3:23-25<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord,\nand not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of\nthe inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he that doeth wrong shall\nreceive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.\nKJV<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Today we proceed to another important aspect and that is\nwhat our mind set should be when we give, our attitude towards the receiver. I\nwould be looking at our expectation from who we gave as against the reality in\nmost cases. I have had reasons to pacify certain persons who gave and\neventually the giving led to animosity between both parties i.e the giver and\nthe receiver. By nature, man expects some level of gratitude at its least when\nthey give. When someone gives a gift sacrificially, they would expect a thank\nyou from the receiver which I don\u2019t think is bad but most times some of the\npersons that receive such assistance don\u2019t even bother to acknowledge it. while\nsome even get angry saying the giver has humiliated them by rendering such\nassistance or that such assistance is far below their expectation. So, we see\nsome ingratitude and sense of entitlement from the receiver.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The attitude of the receiver may discourage us from\ngiving to another person or the same person but we need to firstly realize that\neven what we gave was not by our power but the grace of God, secondly when we\ngive according to the leading of the Spirit, the devil wants to make us regret\nand may tries to do that by the ingratitude of the receiver to cause hatred,\nmalice, slander and eventually sin. The third and the most important point is\nthat every proper giving should be seen as to the Lord himself. In Matt\n25:35-40 \u201c35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye\ngave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed\nme: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37\nThen shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred,\nand fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger,\nand took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or\nin prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them,\nVerily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of\nthese my brethren, ye have done it unto me. KJV<\/span><\/p>\n

Whenever we give to the Lord, render a sacrifice, help\nsomeone in need or even sow a seed in the local assembly, we must see it as a\nsacrifice unto the Lord and the Lord that sees in secret would reward you\nopenly (Mat 6.2). That further goes to show that it\u2019s not necessary you sound a\ntrumpet informing everyone you gave or rendered assistance. Many are of the\nattitude of sharing God\u2019s glory by saying if not me a particular challenge\nwould have remained in someone\u2019s life, Dear saint, see the giving as an\nopportunity as God could have used any other person. As for some believers that\nare ungrateful, you must know that God hates such attitude and it certainly would\nclose doors to further\nassistance. In closing, I like to state that our attitude when we are the giver\nand when we are the receiver is to probe our heart to know to what extent we\nare transformed into his likeness, to what extent we have been crucified and to\nwhat extent the holy Spirit is leading us. \u00a0may God grant us light. <\/span>Join us next week Sunday for the April\nedition of our once-a-month physical meeting called PENIEL from 4pm to 6.30pm\nat Embraze Event Center, Opposite Tipper Garage, Before the Train Station,\nByazhin Kubwa Abuja<\/span><\/p>\n
